What is ISC?
ISC (International Sweepstakes Class) classes are non-regular classes
offered by AKC designed using guidelines from the Federation Cynologique
Internationale. These international style courses are offered in Agility
(AKC Standard equivalent) and Jumping (AKC Jumper With Weaves equivalent)
in 3 levels.
A1 (Agility 1) and J1 (Jumping 1) are the beginning levels of FCI/ISC
courses.
A2 (Agility 2) and J2 (Jumping 2) are the intermediate levels of FCI/ISC
courses.
A3 (Agility 3) and J3 (Jumping 3) are the master levels of FCI/ISC courses.
Level 1 courses are most aligned with the AKC novice/open levels, with
lines that are more open and straightforward, 12 weaves, backsides (usually
1-2) that are on the dog's line, and minimal discriminations.
Level 2 courses are most aligned with the AKC masters/premier levels,
with more challenges including obstacle discriminations, and multiple backsides.
Level 3 courses are the most challenging level with advanced skills needed
to navigate the courses.
